Presentations

Integrating Art Into History

Do your kids hate the study of history? Even if your kids enjoy history, they will love it even more with these creative, hands-on ideas you will not see anywhere else. This workshop had the audience laughing so hard by the end that they were nearly falling on the floor. This fun, fast-paced workshop includes a powerpoint presentation (97 slides) illustrating each historical art activity. Cave art, hieroglyphs, movie boxes, pottery, shoebox scenes, and more are included in this workshop.

Learning Centers for Early Childhood

Find out how to set up simple learning centers in your home that will help your young children ages 0 to 4 to thrive in their learning. Maximize space and have creative play areas, science and art centers, sand and water activities, reading, music, and drama areas. The powerpoint presentation includes 200 pictures to clearly illustrate each learning center.

Living Geography: Travel the World from your Living Room

Learn how to plunge into different cultures from your own living room! Lots of hands-on and edible experiences will be demonstrated, along with how to incorporate creative writing into your study of geography. Map-making, cultural foods, fake passports, geocaching, and virtual world travel will be presented in this wonderful workshop that will pump life into your homeschool geography class!

Living Science: Bringing the Outdoors into Your Home

This workshop will show you how to bring the outdoors into your home, so that your children can observe nature first-hand in a more in-depth manner, even during the winter. Find out how to bring to life different science topics, creating unit studies for your elementary-aged children. Set up science learning centers and create three-dimensional models of whatever you are studying. Make a tunnel slide for the esophagus on your stairs, traveling to the the stomach (the landing) with squirting water, then winding down the stairs through the intestines. Your science will never be the same!

Using Journals to Teach Writing

This workshop will show you how to use different types of journals: regular journals, diaries, dialogue journals, and nature journals. Handouts with fun journal starters will help homeschooling parents transition into journaling. A powerpoint presentation will bring the main points to life and help parents become excited about this inexpensive way to teach writing.

Using Simple Costumes and Props to Teach the Bible

How do you get your children excited about the Word of God? How about living it? Bring Scripture to life for your kids with easy costumes and props, and help them to find delight in the Word of God for a lifetime. There are so many wonderful stories in the Bible that will cause your children to internalize the characters and therefore understand the Word of God with greater clarity. I show you exactly how to do simple hands-on learning activities for each section of the Bible, so that you can teach your children the entire Word of God with joy.
