Ocieanna Fleiss
Member since 07/2011
I'm a mom of four from 11 down to 5, and have been homeschooling since my oldest was in kindergarten. I've been married almost twenty years. I've been a Christian since childhood and have been a member of the same Bible-believing church for seventeen years.

I also recently had a cardiac arrest. This event changed my life in many ways, especially as a mom. You can read more about my story on my website, and discover ongoing insights from my mom adventure on my blog as well as at MOPS.org.

I've also been blessed to express my passion for writing in two novels I co-authored with Tricia Goyer, Love Finds You in Lonesome Prairie, Montana, and Love Finds You in Victory Heights, Washington. I also edited both fiction and nonfiction for WinePress Publishers for over eight years. I'm involved in a classical homeschool co-op where I've taught history and Bible for four years (two years history, two years Bible).

My Mission Statement

My mission is to speak with heartfelt transparency and depth (as well as a touch of humor), and to give not only practical tools for the journey, but also a rich understanding of our value as wives, moms, teachers, and women—because of Christ alone.

Presentations

Love Finds You in Victory Heights, Washington

A World War II story about the folks on the home front who worked for victory, especially focusing on the women who worked in the factories.

Loving Your Kids Like There's No Tomorrow

In this custom-crafted talk for mom groups, Ocieanna walks audiences through the remarkable truths she’s learned from her near-death experience:  How “being on the same team” rather than “Mom against rugrats!” gives kids a sense of belonging  Simply choosing to never rush (at least trying not to!) transforms a stressful home into a more peaceful one  Recalling our intense love for our kids motivates a desire to respond to them with grace  And more!

Parenting without Fear

What keeps you from being the parent you want to be? Could it be fear? Fear of failure, fear of not doing it right, fear of your children getting hurt either physically or emotionally? This talk explores why we fear and how to overcome it.

Parenting without Guilt

A walk through the causes of guilt, true guilt versus false guilt, and the weapons to fight against the negative and embrace the forgiveness found in Christ.

Teaching Junior Highers

A talk created specifically for homeschoolers about the keys to connecting with this creative age group. Points include: Love Them! If they feel loved, they'll be more open to participating. Like Them! Most kids don't think grownups really like them. Taking an interest in their lives creates a rich learning environment. Never Tell Junior Highers Anything! They are happiest when you expect them to find the answers themselves. And more!
