I am a computer programmer turned homeschool mom who loves learning, travel, exercise, reading, finding exciting new hobbies, and spending time with family. Besides teaching homeschool I am a third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, Certified Self-Defense Instructor, Advanced Level Toastmaster Speaker, and group fitness instructor for Les Mills Bodyflow, Les Mills BodyAttack, and group cycling. We travel constantly and make it a habit to try something different at each location including blown glass, painting classes, surfing, carving carousel animals, and trapeze class.

My Mission Statement

Mission as a speaker- is to share knowledge. Having over 9 years experience with computer programming, a BA in mathematics, a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a Self-Defense Instructor Certification, being a certified Les Mills Bodyflow and BodyAttack instructor, a Certified Group Fitness Instructor for over 15 years, Advanced Level Toastmaster Speaker, homeschooling for 8 years, serving as our Homeschool Association Board Director, Coordinating Homeschool Association activities (including field trips, Valentine’s Parties for over 50 children, PE with our local college, dance choreography for our annual musical, ), Instructing Dance, and traveling over ¼ of each year.

A Little Science and A Lot of Fun

A Little Science and A Lot of Fun-We will use plastic eggs to learn some fundamental concepts in physics. Watch your egg fly, race, launch, and have fun learning. We will learn about gravity, the forces of flight, friction, and other concepts. Come join us as we learn, grow, and play. (All ages welcome.)

Hour of Code

Hour of Code – This program is designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics. This is a beginner workshop for kids who have no experience with programming. Every kid should have the opportunity to learn computer science. The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+countries, and I am bringing it right here to you. No experience necessary! Bring a computer or tablet if you want to follow along and give it a try. (For ages 8 and up)

Introduction to Programming

Introduction to Programming– We will start by physically learning what coding is. We will program ourselves to move by using codes. Then we will do some basic programming with Hour of Code Computer Science Fundamentals Course. By the end of this course, students create their very own custom program that they can share. (For ages 4 and up)

Paper Airplane Contest

Learn some of the basics of aerodynamics and what makes an airplane fly? We will discuss drag and gravity, thrust and lift, and the four forces of balance. Then we will put your new flight knowledge to work creating your own paper airplane. Finally we will test it out in a flight contest. Come on over for some hands-on fun.

Self-Defense

Self-Defense– Kris Boedigheimer is a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and Certified Self Defense Instructor with years of experience instructing and a passion for teaching kids and Savannah Boedigheimer is a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and a Certified Junior Instructor will teach Basic Self-Defense techniques. Our mother-daughter black belt team will instruct this hands-on class. This will be an opportunity for students to use their body language, eye contact, voice, and physical skills to get away to safety. We will cover critical thinking about self-defense strategies, assertiveness, powerful communication skills, and easy-to-remember physical techniques. Taking a self-defense class is one of the most positive acts people can do for themselves!

Top 10 Ways to Teach Your Kids to Code – We will learn how to teach your kids (and maybe you) how to code. We will learn tactical ways to show the idea of programming, check out some of the apps and programs available, and learn tactics for making it fun. Prepare to be educated, energized and ready to show your kids how to code.
