Are you preparing your children to leave you or to stay with you? Why are some families “sheltering” their children to extreme levels, hindering them from growing up and moving out? What about daughters who are done with their schooling? How do we help our sons discover their calling and prepare them to be leaders in their own homes? In this workshop, Mark will give practical and biblical teaching on how to equip and prepare these “arrows” God has loaned us to leave the family when it is time and hit the target God intended for them. Mark and Cindy Fox have seven children, one daughter-in-law, and one grandson.
Across the nation, homeschoolers are leading the phenomenon known as the “family-integrated church.” These same families who do not want to have their children taught by others in age-segregated classrooms are realizing that God’s purpose for the church was never for the family to be separated at the front door on Sunday morning. Come hear how churches across the country are working to keep the family together, to equip Dads to lead, to raise up godly children who will impact the culture. If you are looking for ideas on how to transition your church from traditional to family-integrated, this workshop will help. J. Mark Fox is the author of Family-Integrated Church (Xulon Press, 2006) and Planting a Family-Integrated Church (Xulon Press, 2008)
Courtship does work! Mark and Cindy Fox have seen it with their own eyes, as their son Micah kissed his wife Kari for the first time at the altar on May 3, 2008 after a successful courtship of one year and an engagement of three months. Come and hear about the courtship process: its biblical foundation, its practical application, and its inherent protection for the young couple and their families.
Paul said we are to “esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake.” He was speaking of the shepherds, the pastors, the elders who labor in the church for which Christ gave His life. Perhaps this is one of the greatest needs of the local pastor today, to be encouraged in his work and to be reminded of the high calling of his ministry. Mark Fox will share about his own journey as a pastor these past 22 years and endeavor to bless and encourage his fellow shepherds along the way.
Are Dads called by God to lead and provide for their families in these four ways? And, if He calls us to do it, does He also equip us? What are the practical ways Dads can be the head of his household, as Scripture plainly teaches? This workshop is for men and young men of all ages and will be taught by a man who is still learning how to do these things himself. Mark has been married to Cindy for 27 years; they have raised 6 adults so far (who are 13 or older), with one more to go. Come and be encouraged by what God has called you to do and be in your home. This is a two-part workshop: Prophet and Priest (1) and Protector and Provider (2).
Part Two of "Prophet, Priest, Protector and Provider"
Every chicken farmer will tell you that two roosters in the henhouse is a fight waiting to happen! But it doesn’t have to be that way with young men growing into manhood under their Dad’s care and leadership. By the time a boy is 11 or 12, he needs his Father to accept the challenge of grooming him to be the leader God has called him to be. This is the time when he begins to challenge his authorities, especially his mother! What are the keys to helping this transition to manhood take place without a casualty? Dads and teenage sons are especially invited to hear this workshop, as Mark talks about the process he and his three older sons (2 more are in process!) went through to navigate these waters together, and emerge safe and healthy on the other side.
DESCRIPTION: Mark and Cindy Fox have had the privilege to homeschool their seven children for twenty years now, with only 9 more years to go! There have been lots of lessons learned along the way and Mark will share what he believes are the most important ones, including lessons about homeschooling, life, and love. Come and hear the good, the bad, and the hilarious.
In this lively presentation, you will learn some basic tips on overcoming the fear of public speaking, and the reasons why we all should! Come hear someone who has taught public speaking to over 2000 homeschoolers and college students teach you how to prepare a speech from beginning to end. J. Mark Fox is the author of Who’s Afraid of Public Speaking (1998) and teaches Public Speaking in the School of Communications at Elon University.
Writing is an art that can be learned and used by anyone to make a difference in the culture. Mark has written a weekly religion column for The Daily Times-News in Burlington, NC since 2004 in which he uses story, humor, and biblical truth to encourage the believers and challenge the unbelievers. His column has won three awards from the Amy Foundation for excellence in communicating biblical truth to a secular audience. He has also taught a homeschool teens writing class in Burlington for 14 years and is the author of You CAN Write! (2008). Come and learn some simple truths about good writing that will help you or your child wield the pen that really is mightier than the sword!

Fourteen years of teaching writing to homeschoolers went into the making of this book. "You CAN Write!" contains two years worth of writing assignments, vocabulary words and quizzes, and even the final exams I use in my classes. The lessons are geared for the beginning writer at first and move into more challenging writing, such as research papers, further in. It also includes a number of samples from my weekly newspaper column.

What would a church look like where the family is not separated at the front door, where Dads are encouraged to be spiritual leaders, and where children worship with their families? That's what this book is all about: it is the story of how God turned Antioch Community Church upside down and showed them a way to be a church that is counter-cultural but completely biblical!
