Stacy Farrell
Member since 03/2012

Stacy fell in love with Jesus in 1991. She homeschooled her two sons for more than 15 years with the support of her husband of more than 25 years. Her sons are currently completing college online from home.

Stacy has spoken at a variety of homeschool conferences and has published articles in leading Christian magazines. She also managed a law firm that specialized in civil rights litigation and constitutional law.

She cares deeply about helping students cultivate and defend a biblical worldview. To that end, she founded Home School Adventure Co. and creates resources such as Philosophy Adventure, which takes students on a journey into the world of ideas and teaches them how to write skillfully, think critically and speak clearly.

She also wrote the popular resource, Don't Eat That Frog: A Liberating Look at Time Management Strategies.

Although Stacy loves to write, speak and teach, she considers her role as wife to Roger and mother to two precious sons to be her greatest work and privilege.

DETHRONING THE IMPOSTER (and the Art of Persuasive Speaking)

DON’T RUN FROM THE MIRROR! (Why You Need to Teach)

When families first consider homeschooling, they often feel ill-equipped for the challenge. Fortunately, quality homeschool curriculum resources abound today. But there is a critical element necessary for success—and it can’t be purchased for any price. We need courage to face the truth about ourselves as we see our weaknesses reflected in the mirror of our homeschool. This workshop will encourage parents to stay the course and discover how they will be refined and reshaped into something precious through the process of acquiring the character and knowledge required to give their children a true education.

FROM ATHEIST TO APOLOGIST: Lessons from Lewis, the Great Christian Storyteller"

In this “Age of Tolerance,” Christians are in danger of forgetting (or never learning) what distinguishes the worldview of the believer from that of the unbeliever. The world shouts its perspective from myriad media screens and billboards. Rather than allow the world to introduce moral matters to your children—and it will—seize the opportunity to present a perspective they are not likely to stumble upon while surfing the web. Discover how you can use the life and work of C. S. Lewis as a powerful tool to help your students gain a biblical perspective on those timeless philosophical questions which inevitably arise in the mind of any truth seeker.

HOMESCHOOLER ADVENTURE

We pour our hearts into preparing our students to fulfill God's purpose for their lives. There is a time to shelter, and a time to release. Be encouraged by stories of students who are actively loving and trusting God as they venture into the world. Hear what they think were the most significant lessons they learned from their homeschool—and what helped them establish a firm foundation and a biblical worldview.

IDEAS RULE THE WORLD (and the Art of Persuasive Writing)

One man fell into a ditch while gazing at the stars, another lived in a barrel and tossed aside his cup when he saw someone drink with his hands, and a third man is said to have applied hot bread to his nostrils to postpone his impending death. Who are these colorful characters? You may be surprised to learn they are some of the world’s greatest philosophers! Although their stories are entertaining, their ideas can be deadly. Together, we will explore the consequences of their ideas and learn why we must hone our thinking and writing skills to combat deadly ideas with life and truth. Bring a pencil and paper and be prepared to have some fun…despite the seriousness of this subject.

PHILOSOPHY ADVENTURE: Essential Skills for a Changing World

The world is changing. Now more than ever, we want to equip our students to be critical thinkers and effective communicators—especially since Christians are called to “…destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5). To do so, we must first be awakened to the ungodly messages assaulting us…and learn how to counter those messages with Truth. Come learn how we can teach our children to write skillfully, think critically, and speak articulately as they engage with the world of ideas.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO LOVE HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART? (a/k/a: How to have the mind of Christ)

Would you try to memorize an entire book of Scripture if you knew you would succeed? The Bible is banned in many countries. Countless believers have sacrificed their freedom—and many, their lives—to spread the message of God’s love and salvation contained within its pages. Are we exercising our freedom responsibly? It is easier to share the Word of God when it is etched upon your heart. Fortify your students against false ideology, strengthen their memory skills, and lay the groundwork for a solidly biblical worldview. Learn how to use five simple steps, outlined in Philippian in 28 Weeks, with any book of the Bible to equip your students (and yourself) to become “walking epistles.” One day we will stand before our Holy God and give an account for how we managed the liberty and resources He entrusted to us. Let's prepare.

The Wise Woman with Literary Analysis Journal Questions

with George MacDonald

The Wise Woman enchants readers while it contrasts the ugliness of pride, selfishness and conceit with the beauty of humility, sacrifice, and compassion. By offering students 16 to 24 literary analysis questions per chapter, this 160-page spiral bound edition teaches critical thinking in a way that is engaging and transformational. As one student explains: “The literary analysis questions cut hard and deep— they forced me to reflect upon the story from a biblical worldview. As I processed the questions, I began to see Rosamond’s problems in my own life. Answering offered me no choice but to change….” –Danny (14 years old)
